The East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging is a non-profit organization founded in 1972 and authorized to plan and administer services to enable older adults to live in their homes with dignity and safety as long as possible with appropriate supportive services, prevent unnecessary institutionalization and uphold their rights.

ECIAAA plans, coordinates and advocates for the development of a comprehensive service delivery system for the 138,592 older persons living in the sixteen counties of east central Illinois.  The Area Plan prepared by ECIAAA identifies issues and needs of older persons, sets priorities, and specifies services to be provided.

Funding for the ECIAAA is made possible with grants of Federal Older Americans Act Funds and Illinois General Revenue Funds through the Illinois Department on Aging.  The ECIAAA is one of thirteen Area Agencies on Aging in Illinois.

ECIAAA funds services aimed at securing and maintaining maximum independence and dignity for Older Americans.  Services are available to persons 60 years of age or older and family caregivers.  Although there are no fees for services, contributions are encouraged and are used to expand programs.  Services are targeted to older persons in greatest social or economic need, especially low income minority older persons, and older persons in rural areas.
