Advisory Councils Minimize

There are two opportunities to volunteer on Advisory Councils serving the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging. The first is the ECIAAA Advisory Council.  The second is the Long Term Care Ombudsman program Advisory Council.  A summary of these two Advisory Councils is given below.

ECIAAA ADVISORY COUNCIL

The purpose of the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging's Advisory Council is to advise the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging, Inc., in the development of an Area Plan through objective, comprehensive, long-range planning.  The Council assists in developing a comprehensive system of care for independent living for Illinois Seniors and their caregivers by advising the Area Agency and by keeping up to date on issues affecting older adults and the resources available to live independently.

The Advisory Council may be comprised of no less than 20 members and no more than 32 members.  Members represent metropolitan and rural counties in east central Illinois and serve three-year terms.  The Advisory Council members represent the interests of older persons, caregivers of older adults, and grandparents and other relatives raising children.

The Advisory Council meets on the first Wednesday of September, November, January, March and May from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the Community Room of the Tuscola National Bank, located at 900 South Progress Boulevard in Tuscola, IL.  The meetings of the Advisory Council are open to the public. 

The Advisory Council meets jointly with the ECIAAA Corporate Board at the Annual Meeting on the third Wednesday in September and at the Annual Retreat on the first Wednesday in November.

LONG TERM CARE PROGRAM ADVISORY COUNCIL

The Ombudsman Program serves the residents of long term care facilities in the 16 county area served by the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging.

The Advisory Council offers counsel, support and guidance to the Regional Ombudsman Program of the Agency by providing analysis and recommendations in the development and monitoring of laws, regulations and policies as brought to the Council's attention by Ombudsman Program staff with the goal of improving a quality life style for residents of long term care facilities.  The Council is made up of individuals without conflicts of interest as defined by the Illinois Department on Aging, with an attempt to represent all regions of the Agency's covered area.  The Council hsall have no more than 18 and no fewer than 8 members.  Terms of membership shall be for 3 years.
